Condensate Management
All lubricated air compressors generate oil and water condensate.
Compressed air is discharged at elevated temperatures in
a saturated condition. Any cooling which takes place through
after- coolers, dryers, or pipelines cause the water vapor
to condense into a liquid form, which then mixes with any
oil carryover of a machine.
Condensate is about 95% water and 5% oil. Oil/water separators
reduce the amount of oil in the condensate to 20 to 10 ppm
depending on the type of oil/water separator.
